THE PROGRAM

 Grand Oaks Theatre is a 6-A High School Theatre Arts program that works hard to bring exciting, entertaining educational productions to our community & offer a variety of Theatre & Technical Classes!
We are Thespian Troupe #8779, part of the International Thespian Society and Texas Thespians. 
Our students have the opportunity to compete year round in speech tournaments, at the Texas Thespian State Festival, in U.I.L. Theatrical Design, and the Spring U.I.L. One-Act Play State Competition.
Each year we produce 8 to 12 productions, including Main Stage shows, Black Box shows, Improv shows, student-directed one-act plays, and Showcase performances. There are many opportunities to get involved! 
Our monthly Theatre Club Meetings keep everyone informed and socialize. You do not have to be in a Theatre class to audition ​or to participate in the after-school Theatre Club or attend meetings.

HOW TO BECOME A THESPIAN

All students are welcome in Grand Oaks Theatre, but dedicated members may be interested in becoming official thespians. A thespian is a member of the International Thespian Society (ITS). Every theatre event that a student participates in earns them Thespian Points. Earning 10 Thespian Points means that a student can be officially inducted into the ITS for life! Points can be earned through acting and/or technical crew participation. After the initial 10 points have been earned, students can accrue more points to earn more honors from the ITS. Students who earn 40 points will letter in Theatre. Higher levels of honor include receiving graduation honor cords and medals. You can see how many points you currently have at the bottom of this page. Points are updated after each show. Points awarded are based on the judgement and discretion of the directors and may vary between shows. Visit our Points page to see the point key as well as current values.

PRODUCTIONS

Mrs. Rostad is anticipating an amazing Season here at Grand Oaks as the Assistant Director.

In the first few years, she has had fun working on UIL productions and class shows, such as Blithe Spirit, Suite Surrender, Nellie, Shakespeare and so much more.  She also has enjoyed the Fine Arts team and community coming together for our first musical Once Upon a Mattress and now we have also completed The Wizard of Oz. 

Before Coming to GOHS, Mrs. Rostad was at Woodridge Forest Middle School. She was there there for 5 years building an amazing Theatre family and program. 

Mrs. Rostad graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Theatre and a minor in dance!

PRODUCTIONS
Theatre reflects life. We enhance our humanity through the craft of Theatre. Students that participate in Theatre create a deeper sense of awareness and human connection with the world around them.  ​I believe in fostering student creativity to promote confidence and spark real-world experiences.

I have 25 years of public school teaching experience. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and English Education from Western Michigan University and a Masters in Education from Southeastern Oklahoma University. I have taught in Alief, Cy-Fair, Katy, and Klein ISD.

I am excited to move to Conroe ISD for the 2026-2027 school year as the Head Theatre Director at Grand Oaks High School. I will be teaching Technical Theatre, Theatre I and Production courses as well as managing the Auditorium. 

2026-2027 THEATRE OFFICER BOARD

Each year Grand Oaks Theatre's Officer Board functions as our leadership team and works in collaboration with all program directors, students, and parents to serve and support our program. These hardworking students are chosen by their peers at the end of the previous school year to represent them during the current school year. Theatre Officers are experienced and knowledgeable Theatre students. Find and ask any of our officers if you have questions about any events or opportunities!

Audrey Allison (Senior)

Audrey Allison is a senior at Grand Oaks High School. She is looking forward to being a Theatre Officer for the 2026-2027 school Year. Audrey has been passionate about theatre since the 8th grade. Some of her favorite past roles include Glinda from The Wizard Of Oz, Mary Poppins (Class Act). She looks forward to performing in this year’s UIL season! In her free time she loves to sing, play guitar and read.

Grace Cox  (Senior)

Grace Cox is a senior technician who has been a member of our theater program for 4 years. She’s been part of the program through sound, props, and her absolute favorite, lights! Her favorite shows being Wizard of OZ, Robin Hood, and The Great Gatsby.
​She is excited to be able to work with such a wonderful cast and crew this year!

​Malia Hadley (Senior)

Malia Hadley is a senior this year and an officer director along with a member of the Productions class. Malia has been in many shows and productions with Grand Oaks Theatre dating back to her freshman year although her most notable include Mary (Secret Gardens) and Daisy (The Great Gatsby). Throughout her senior year, Malia hopes to continue exploring her love for Theatre in different roles. After high school Malia plans to continue her love for acting by getting a BFA and double majoring in a route to pre-law. ​

Autumn Moore (Junior)

Autumn Moore is going into her junior year and so excited to be one of your officers! This will be only her second year with grand oaks after moving back home to Texas. She loves the acceptance and welcome that this program has given her and is excited to have this opportunity. She has been involved in the technical side of theatre from the first show she was involved in and cannot wait to continue expressing that passion. She strives to be a comforting and open person to everyone, and to provide a safe space for all to feel welcome. To be given the experience to be one of your 26-27 theatre officers is a great honor to her and she is ready for an amazing year! ​​

​Nayeli Ochoa (Senior)

​Nayeli Ochoa is a senior technician going into her fourth year in the Grand Oaks Theatre Department. She is honored to be such a big part of Grand Oaks Theater being an officer and a head technician for multiple shows with her favorite being Wizard of Oz where she helped with mics and sound. She is extremely thankful for everyone who's been helpful along the way and is excited for more future opportunities.​

Shawn-Monet Rouege (Senior)

Shawn-Monet Rouege is a senior this year returning for her fourth year in the GOHS theatre program and her first year as an officer. Her favorite roles have been a Chorus member in Charlotte's Web and the lead Jitterbug in The Wizard of Oz. She can’t wait for the upcoming UIL and being an Improv Captain. She is beyond excited for this opportunity as she hopes to make many memories while she spends her last year with this amazing troupe.

Sarah Turner (Junior)

Sarah Turner is excited to begin her journey as a theatre officer. She has been a member of this program since her freshman year and has grown tremendously alongside her talented peers and directors. Her most memorable roles include The Wicked Witch of the West (Wizard of Oz), Titania (A Midsummer Night's Dream), and Martha Appleby (The Secret Garden). Sarah is eager to challenge herself through Directing Seminar, UIL, and as an improv captain. After high school, she plans to pursue a film career and hopes to one day achieve her dream of performing on Saturday Night Live. ​
